Some of the Tī Kōuka learners will be invited to join a poetry club next term. Poems will be shared with these learners on SeeSaw every Monday, and we ask that they read these nightly at home with Mum, Dad, big brother or sister, or the family cat/dog/chickens. They will meet independently during the week at school to read the poem together. Reading poetry is a great way to improve fluency, oral language, understanding of rhyme, and is lots of fun.
The poems will be visible to all Tī Kōuka learners on SeeSaw, so you're all welcome to read them as you please at home :).
Mathletics
Mathletics is an online learning space/application that gives students opportunities to practice what they have learned in class. Courses and activities align to the New Zealand Curriculum and maths standards across Years 1-13. In Term 3 we will be assigning weekly tasks for Tī Kōuka students that reflect learner needs, and what we are doing in class. We will not be using Mathletics extensively in class and its use at home is optional. However, use of Mathletics will be limited to what is assigned (students will not have the option to move on until assigned tasks are completed). We encourage those with their own devices to download the Mathletics NZ app. It can also be accessed online through the website here.
